RBS-100: Responsible Beverage Service Course
RBS-100 is the Eight Point Solutions Responsible Beverage Service Course, a 4-hour online course for bartenders, servers, barbacks, catering and event bar staff, stadium and arena concession staff, managers on duty, and anyone who decides whether the next drink goes across the bar. Delivered self-paced on the EPS Portal from Lanham, Maryland, the course trains the server to treat every drink as a decision the server makes: know the law that reaches the bar in Maryland and the District of Columbia, count in standard drinks and pour the unit measured every time, use the count, the clock, and the cues together, serve green, slow yellow, and stop red, check identification in four steps before the pour, refuse the minor and cut off the visibly intoxicated guest with a rule, a reason, and an option and never the word drunk, refuse the third-party sale, serve last call on the count and the color, run the duty of care for the guest who is going to drive, recognize alcohol poisoning and drink spiking, work with security and the manager, and write the log entry that defends the license. Content is built to cover the subject matter of the alcohol awareness programs approved by the Maryland Comptroller and the District of Columbia Alcoholic Beverage and Cannabis Administration for the person who pours and serves; EPS has not applied for approval under either program and this credential is not a Maryland or District certification. Tuition is $25.00. The official RBS-100 Course Syllabus, Version 1.0 is included in Module 1. Five modules cover the server and the license, alcohol facts for the server, reading the guest and setting the pace, identification, the refusal, and the cutoff, and the duty of care and the record. Completion requires all five modules, every module quiz passed at 80 percent or higher, the 50-item final examination passed at 90 percent or higher, and the course sign-off. The EPS Responsible Beverage Service Certification is serial-numbered, recorded in the EPS registry, verifiable through the EPS Portal, and valid for two years. The credential documents completion of EPS training. It is not a state license of any kind, it does not replace house policies, and it does not authorize any use of force or the taking of anyone's property. RBS-100 is governed by EPS-DIR-001 and the RBS-100 Course Syllabus. Built to be taken alongside ALA-100, the EPS Alcohol Awareness Course. Samuel Romanzo, Training Director.
