Enlisted Reserves

The United States Marine Corps Reserve offers individuals the opportunity to earn the title of United States Marine while continuing to pursue a civilian career, college education, or other personal goals.

Reserve Marines complete the same Recruit Training and earn the same title as active-duty Marines. After completing initial training, Reserve Marines typically serve with an assigned unit near their home while remaining prepared to support missions within the United States or overseas.

Career opportunities may be available in fields such as aviation, engineering, communications, cybersecurity, intelligence, logistics, administration, law enforcement, mechanics, and other military specialties. Available positions depend on individual qualifications and vacancies at nearby Reserve units.

• Successfully complete Marine Corps Recruit Training

• Complete specialized training for an assigned occupational field

• Attend scheduled monthly drills and annual training

• Maintain Marine Corps physical-fitness and readiness standards

• Perform assigned military duties professionally and effectively

• Remain prepared for mobilization or deployment when required

• Demonstrate leadership, accountability, and sound judgment

• Uphold the Marine Corps’ core values of Honor, Courage, and Commitment

• Meet applicable age, education, citizenship, and residency requirements

• Possess a high school diploma or qualifying equivalent

• Complete the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery

• Meet established medical and physical-fitness standards

• Satisfy the Marine Corps’ moral and legal eligibility requirements

• Successfully complete all required screening and enlistment processing

• Be willing to complete Recruit Training and occupational training

• Be available to fulfill all assigned Reserve training and service requirements
