GIC-100: Professional General Instructor Certification Course

GIC-100 is the Eight Point Solutions Professional General Instructor Certification Course, a 30-hour hybrid train-the-trainer program for aspiring instructors, workplace trainers, corporate trainers, public safety professionals, security trainers, subject-matter experts, supervisors, and training managers. Based in Lanham, Maryland and available through a self-paced online foundation plus live in-person or virtual instruction, the course develops the practical skills required to plan, deliver, assess, and improve adult instruction. The program combines a 14-hour self-paced Digital Foundation Block with a required 16-hour live instructor-led block. In-person cohorts train over two full days. Virtual cohorts train over three live days on camera. Cohorts are limited to eight candidates. Tuition is $349.99. The official GIC-100 Course Syllabus, Version 1.0 is included in Module 1. Twelve modules cover the instructor role and mindset, adult learning principles, the EPS training continuum, ADDIE instructional design, measurable learning objectives in Task, Condition, Standard form, lesson plan development, presentation and communication skills, classroom management, student assessment, corrective feedback, training standards, computer literacy, responsible AI use for instructors, and the ten published EPS common core training topics. Candidates build a complete lesson plan and prepare a live 10 to 15 minute instructional teach-back. Online completion requires all twelve modules and every module quiz passed at 80 percent or higher. The online course issues the GIC-100 Digital Foundation Block Completion credential only. That credential documents the online portion and does not certify the learner as an EPS General Instructor. Students must bring it to the required live training. Full Professional certification requires the live block, a closed-book live-proctored 80-item final examination passed at 77 of 80 or higher, and a practical teach-back passed at 30 of 40, with no criterion below 2 and scores of at least 3 on learning objectives and content accuracy. The EPS Certified General Instructor credential is serial-numbered, recorded in the EPS registry, verifiable through the EPS Portal, and valid for three years. Teaching on behalf of Eight Point Solutions LLC requires separate written appointment from the Training Director. GIC-100 is governed by the GIC-100 Program of Instruction and EPS-DIR-001. Samuel Romanzo, Training Director. Kawika Rogers, Managing Partner.

Modules & lessons.

01
Module 1: Orientation and the EPS Standard
3 lessons · 0.5 hours, self-paced. Closes with a quiz that passes at 80 percent. Covers the EPS Portal from login through the last module quiz, the course map, the module sequence, and the assessment schedule that governs the cohort, plus the certification requirements of EPS-DIR-001. States how the final examination is actually administered, live and proctored by the evaluating instructor, never as a Portal quiz.
02
Module 2: The Instructor's Role and Mindset
2 lessons · 0.5 hours, self-paced. Closes with a quiz that passes at 80 percent. Separates the subject matter expert, who possesses the knowledge, from the instructor, who transfers knowledge and performance to people who do not have it yet. Establishes the ownership rule that governs every EPS classroom: when a class walks out without the skill, the instruction failed.
03
Module 3: Adult Learning
2 lessons · 1.0 hours, self-paced. Closes with a quiz that passes at 80 percent. Covers how adult learners differ from students at a school desk: they direct their own learning, carry real experience into the room, learn what they can apply immediately, and commit when they decide the work is worth their time. Teaches how to open a block by answering the question every adult is silently asking.
04
Module 4: The EPS Training Continuum
2 lessons · 0.5 hours, self-paced. Closes with a quiz that passes at 80 percent. States the EPS Training Continuum in order: teach, demonstrate, supervised practice, and repetition to proficiency, then evaluation pass or fail, field application, and refresher training that builds on the last block already mastered. Applies the full-circle method that opens every course by showing where it ends.
05
Module 5: Learning Objectives: Task, Condition, Standard
1 lesson · 1.0 hours, self-paced. Closes with a quiz that passes at 80 percent. Builds learning objectives in Task, Condition, Standard form using verbs that can be measured, and separates the terminal objective, the performance the whole lesson exists to produce, from the enabling objectives that get the student there.
06
Module 6: The Lesson Plan
2 lessons · 1.0 hours, self-paced. Closes with a quiz that passes at 80 percent. Builds a complete lesson plan on EPS-FORM-001 covering objectives, time plan, introduction, body, supervised practice, summary, evaluation, and safety plan. Instructor notes must carry enough content, method, and detail that another qualified instructor could pick up the plan and teach it to the same standard.
07
Module 7: Communication and Interpersonal Skills
1 lesson · 1.0 hours, self-paced. Closes with a quiz that passes at 80 percent. Covers voice, pace, and clarity in plain language, one idea at a time, checked for understanding before the next idea lands. Covers active listening, rapport, reading the room, and running every block as a two-way exchange rather than a lecture.
08
Module 8: Managing the Classroom
1 lesson · 1.0 hours, self-paced. Closes with a quiz that passes at 80 percent. Covers overhead, direct, and redirected questions with deliberate wait time, platform skills, purposeful movement, positioning, and presence. Covers setting ground rules on day one and containing the student who dominates the room.
09
Module 9: Assessments, Feedback, and Standards
1 lesson · 0.5 hours, self-paced. Closes with a quiz that passes at 80 percent. Separates formative evaluation, the checks that happen while learning is still under way, from summative evaluation, the graded event at the end, and matches the assessment method to the verb in the objective. Feedback is specific, aimed at the behavior, tied to the standard, and documented.
10
Module 10: Computer Literacy for Instructors
4 lessons · 0.5 hours, self-paced. Closes with a quiz that passes at 80 percent. Covers professional course correspondence, file management in Word, Google Docs, and the EPS Portal under consistent and auditable file naming, and researching instructional material with source evaluation before anything reaches a student.
11
Module 11: AI for Instructors
2 lessons · 0.5 hours, self-paced. Closes with a quiz that passes at 80 percent. Covers artificial intelligence as a drafting and preparation aid whose every output the instructor verifies before it reaches a student, protection of student records from tools that have not been approved to hold them, and the accountability rule that the instructor owns everything taught no matter what tool drafted it.
12
Module 12: The Ten Core Courses
1 lesson · 6.0 hours, self-paced. Requires a Portal completion record for each of the ten EPS common core courses plus a module quiz that passes at 80 percent. Each completion writes the permanent Portal record that clears the graduate to deliver that topic under EPS-DIR-001 section 15. Covers the terminal objective, the standards, and the scope limit of every core package.
