About the Position: We are seeking a seasoned Senior Tax Accountant to join our Waverly, Iowa team. This is a high-impact role requiring at least 5 years of experience in complex taxation. You will provide sophisticated tax planning and preparation for a diverse client base, including corporations, partnerships, and individuals. Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Tax Preparation & Planning: Lead the preparation and review of complex federal and state tax returns for individuals, C-Corps, S-Corps, and Partnerships.
Compliance Oversight: Ensure all filings adhere to current IRS and Iowa state tax laws; stay abreast of changing tax legislation to provide proactive advice to clients.
Client Advisory: Act as a trusted advisor, offering comprehensive financial solutions tailored to the specific personal and professional circumstances of our clients.
Technical Research: Conduct in-depth research on complex tax issues to support client strategies and resolve IRS or state-level inquiries.
Mentorship: Provide guidance and technical review for junior accounting staff to ensure accuracy and professional development within the firm.
Business Growth: Support the firm’s commitment to high-quality service, contributing to client retention and the pursuit of new financial solutions.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
Experience: 5+ years of progressive experience in public accounting, specifically within corporate, partnership, and individual taxation.
Certification: CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or EA (Enrolled Agent) is highly preferred.
Local Presence: Must be a local candidate residing in or willing to commute to Waverly, IA (Relocation assistance is not provided).
Software Proficiency: Experience with standard tax preparation and accounting software (e.g., UltraTax, CCH, or similar).
Logistics: Ability to work in the Waverly office at least 3 days per week.
