About the Role

We are looking for experienced Light Vehicle Mechanics to join an automotive service and repair team in Australia. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, servicing, maintaining and repairing light vehicles to ensure they operate safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in vehicles and components.

• Inspect engines, transmissions, steering, suspension and braking systems.

• Dismantle and remove engine, transmission and other mechanical components when required.

• Repair or replace worn and defective vehicle parts.

• Reassemble mechanical components after repairs.

• Perform scheduled vehicle servicing, including oil changes, lubrication and engine tune-ups.

• Use diagnostic equipment and computer systems to identify vehicle faults.

• Test and adjust mechanical components after repairs.

• Refer to service manuals and manufacturer specifications when carrying out repairs.

• Conduct vehicle inspections and identify repairs required for roadworthiness.

• Respond to vehicle breakdowns when required.

• Maintain a safe, clean and organised workshop.

• Follow workplace health and safety procedures and manufacturer guidelines.

Candidate Requirements

• Minimum 4 years of recent experience as a Light Vehicle Mechanic / Motor Mechanic.

• Relevant automotive trade qualification, preferably Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent.

• Strong knowledge of petrol engines and light vehicle mechanical systems.

• Experience with:

  • Engine repair and maintenance

  • Transmission systems

  • Steering and suspension

  • Braking systems

  • Mechanical and electrical fault diagnosis

  • Computerised vehicle diagnostics

  • Preventive maintenance

• Ability to read and follow service manuals and technical information.

• Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

• Strong commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship.

Preferred Experience

Experience with modern diagnostic scanners, electronic vehicle systems and a variety of passenger vehicles and light commercial vehicles will be highly regarded.

Australian Requirements

• Relevant trade qualification and experience required.
